The Rising Tide Initiative is an Urban League program that assists non-custodial parents. The program helps parents, primarily fathers, meet family responsibilities and move toward self-sufficiency. Participants identify and overcome barriers to self-sufficiency and parenting, obtain employment, and/or skills training.
The program targets non-custodial parents living in Cuyahoga County, who are unemployed or underemployed and connected to CSEA, OWF, TANF or PRC services. Rising Tide provides a four-week series of workshops focussing on: Life Skills, Job Readiness, Family/Support Networks and Parenting. The program also provides individual case management, via one-to-one consultation/advocacy and a 24-hour hotline. Following completion of the workshop series, the program provides employment placement and retention services.
Rising Tide coordinates its resources with a host of business, county, community based, faith based, and social service agencies. Program hours are Monday - Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Extended hours are offered on Wednesdays, including a Focus Group, 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Services are offered in a downtown Cleveland location.
