The Ashe Culture Center, Inc. (Ashe) is an Ohio not for profit organization whose mission is to enhance the development of people of African descent and to encourage harmony amongst the world's people.
Ashe is a Yoruba word meaning 'these things are good therefore let them be so'. In the context of the center the individual letters stand for African Systems For Human Enhancement. Accordingly, Ashe's programs are all devoted to the upliftment of the participants. Programs to date have involved both adults and children, primarily of African descent. Programs have focused upon human development for adults and socialization for children. Rites of Passage theory forms the foundation for most of Ashe's programs. Over the course of the last six years Ashe has served approximately 500 adults and children combined. Ashe has a small but dedicated staff and prides itself on efficient program operations.
In addition Ashe also provides African Centered inservice and staff develop programs for public schools universities and private groups. Ashe also performs contract services for Kent State University, the Urban League of Greater Cleveland and other service organizations in and around greater Cleveland.
